  • Mars Volta Fans, mark you calendars: Amputechture comes out Aug. 22, and they're feeling "vicarious"
  • Lil' Kim is being released from prison on Monday. She's been there since Sept. 19
  • Cirque du Soleil open their Beatles musical "Love" today in Las Vegas
  • Madonna, David Bowie, Mia Farrow, and Snoop Dogg lend their voices to a movie from a children's book called Arthur and the Invisibles
  • Virgin Fest is coming to Olympic Island this fall. Acts include Gnarls Barkley, The Flaming Lips, The Raconteurs, The Eagles Of Death Metal, The Dears, Thrice, The Hidden Cameras, K'Naan, Zero 7, 2ManyDJs, Jose Gonzales and more. (Oh, this sounds like fun)
  • Les Imcompetents singer, Billy Bell, is in intensive care after an argument on a bus that went to the street. Apparently he was punched then he hit his head on the pavement. (They're asking witnesses to call CrimeStoppers)
  • Queen guitarist, Brian May, is aiming to get his PhD degree. He was a keen atronomer in the 1970's but couldn't continue with the success of the band
  • Marylin Manson announces his film plans (he'll be directing and starring in it too)
  • Anyone remember Transformers? I personally have a bag with the Autobot sign on it but anyway.. The movie is coming out next year but you can see the tralier and read about now!

alright so.. this is going to be a really bad update because I've been busy all day and I'm on my slow computer right now because I don't know how to connect to the internet on the new laptop.. here we go..

  • Dido is working on her third album with producer Jon Brion
  • Record labels are probably creaming themselves just to get Radiohead signed, but apparently they might release their next album independently
  • Chad Kroeger was arrested for drinking and driving!
  • DMX was (finally) in court today for speeding and other traffic charges, the date had been delayed twice because he missed both of them
  • The Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne says Richard Ashcroft is a "pompous dick"
  • Bob Dylan goes back to touring minor league baseball stadiums beginning August 12 in Comstock Park, Mich.
  • "Pilot Speed" instead of "Pilate"?

  • Axl Rose was arrested this morning in Stockholm after allegedly biting a security guard in the leg. It took place just outside his hotel after and one police officer said that he was intoxicated. He was released shortly
  • the Raconteurs are ready to release their new single on July 31, a cover of David Bowie's "It Ain't Easy"
  • Tori Amos fans, mark your calendars: She will be releasing a box-set of rarities, hits, alternative mixes and more on September 26 called A Piano
  • Sleater-Kinney call on a Hiatus. Their label, Sub Pop, released a statement regarding their "indefinite haitus" and they have no future plans to make music or tour
  • Michael Jackson wants to get away from the U.S. to Europe in hopes to start a new career and life
  • Kevin Richardson has called it quits on the Backstreet Boys!
  • More News from Top of the Pops, Art Brut have made an online petiton for them to perform before the show is off the air for good
  • Razorlight fans, mark you calendars (I know I will): Their self titled Razorlight album is set to hit stores on July 17 (in the U.K.?). They will also have a performance in London right before the new release is available to buy
  • Kasabian fans, mark you calendars: the realease date for Empire is September 27
  • MySpace makes news again this week when two teenage girls in Florida made a phony profile to lure a man to an appartment and rob him at gunpoint.
  • Pink would rather not make a spectacle on her tour, which starts tonight, she's all about the music.

One Week-iversary! - 6/26

THEY SAY...
  • Jay-Z celebrated the 10th anniversary of his successful album Reasonalble Doubt in NYC last night.
  • In a related story, Jay-Z is already thinking of coming back out of "retirement". He wants to start performing live again
  • Ozzy Osbourne has decided to play three additional sets at this year's Ozzfest on June 29 just outside Seattle. He's been trying to cut back on shows, but it looks like he wants to please his fans
  • Beck is almost done his new album? Less than a year after his last realease, Guero, he's finalizing his new one due in the fall
  • I don't personally like them, but Arcade Fire's new album is in the works too and is also almost done but with no release date yet.. come back for that later
  • After a long wait, the Postal Service are on their way to getting another album out. It seems that scheduleing problems have been the delay.. with Gibbard being in Death Cab for Cutie and all that jazz
  • News from Dubai, producer Dallas Austin (Madonna, Boys II Men, TLC, Aretha Franklin) has been in prison there for the past month after allegedly taking narcotics into the United Arab Emirates member state
  • In other music producer news, Phil Spector will go on trial in January for allegedly killing a B-movie actress nearly four years ago, a judge said on Friday
  • George Harrison/Beatles fans, mark your calendars: EMI will be releasing a deluxe remastered version of Harrison's 1973 album Living in the Material World on September 26
  • The case involving a contract dispute between record companies over a hip-hop album by Ja Rule and other rappers has been declined for hearing by the Supreme Court
  • Legendary producer, Arif Mardin, died yesterday in New York. He was 74 and was suffering from pancreatic cancer for about a year. He worked with the likes of Aretha Franklin and the Bee Gees
  • Remember I mentioned that the Crystal Method are releasing a song for Nike and Apple? Well, they're going to use it as a 45-minute running tool to help you run and exercise while wearing your Nike's, I guess
  • New Orlean's based festival, Voodoo Musical Experience, have revealed the last parts of their line up with acts including Flaming Lips, Wu-Tang, Kings of Leon and My Chemical Romance. Already on the bill include Red Hot Chili Peppers, Broken Social Scene, Duran Duran, Secret Machines and more
  • Moby stands up for animal rights! He's filmed a clip for the Humane Society, addressing factory farming and animal welfare

  • Michael Jackson goes back to court.. not for the way he treats children etc? No, they're going to examine the way he spends his cash. He's being sued for $3.8 Million U.S. for loans and expenses, unpaid salary for work on a charity record and his share of the proceeds from two television specials by F. Marc Schaffel
  • Audioslave turn to funk, R&B and soul for upcoming record to release on September 5 (mark your calendars). Find the song list and full story here.
  • Like Dance music? Well, it looks like the Dance Music Festival is coming to town from July 1-5. They're expecting around 100,000 people to attend.
  • Pete Doherty publishes journals and will hit book shelves mid next year. From 1999 to present, we'll get to read all about his life, woo hoo.
  • Richard Ashcroft was arrested for disorderly conduct Monday. He allegedly burst into a U.K. youth club and demanded to help troubled youth. He refused to leave but maybe he just wanted to help them...?
  • Age restrictions hit MySpace. They're going to make it so that anyone under 18 years or older won't be able to befriend 14 or 15 years. People can still lie though, it's the internet.
  • Academy award-winner Jamie Foxx is at the top of the Billboard R&b/Hip-Hop Awards list of finalists. We all know and love him for collaborating with Kanye West on his hit "Goldigger."
  • Australian superstar Kylie Minogue is getting back on the road in November. She took a break from her Showgirl tour after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
  • Beach Boys fans, mark your calendars: they will release a 40th Anniversary Edition of "Pet Sounds" on August 29

  • Artic Monkeys bassist, Andy Nicholson, has decided to leave the band for good. After touring North American without him, he decided to leave and stand-in bassist, Nick O'Malley, will now be a permanent member
  • The BBC has decided to cancel their imfamous show "Top of the Pops" after 42 years of being on air. Apparently the rating had been falling for years now with other shows to compete against, so they just decided to take it off the air
  • Pearl Jam plan on holding a benefit show in Portland, Oregon for the Northwest Chapter of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA).
  • Feist fans, mark you calendars: Let It Die, the remix and b-sides album, will be released July 18
  • Kelis fans, mark your calendars: She has changed her new album realease date to August 22 and it's being called Kelis Was Here
  • Christopher Wallace's, a.k.a. Notorious B.I.G., wrongful death trial has been postponed to January 16, three months later than planned to give the family more time for to seek information for defence. It's been 9 years since his untimely, unsolved, death

  • Pete Doherty was fined $1,900 is Sweden this weekend after police found traces of cocain in his blood

  • One of the Bush twins attended Radiohead's New York gig last week. After her six security guards were causing a rukus during "The Tourist" just to get her out of there, Thom Yorke couldn't help but write something about it on their website:

  • Happy Belated Birthday to Sir Paul McCartney who turned the special age of 64 on Sunday
